THAT resolute Europhile R Thomson berates some of our Eurosceptics in his letter (April 4).

I’m pretty sure The Commonwealth countries will prefer to trade directly with us under a free trade agreement.

After all, the middle man will be bypassed, easing the added costs of tariffs.

Colin Hingston’s ‘shallow analysis of trade balance’ is not flawed as R Thomson puts it.

Of course trade varies from country to country, but we still have a trade deficit with the EU so his argument is dead.

When he casually talks about our sovereignty, I will tell him how it impacts on us as he asks.

It has rendered us all stateless if we wanted to rescind our EU citizenship.

He may not be a person of integrity and moral fibre, but many Brits are and we will fight for our identity.
