I SHARE the anger of Julia Graham (July 4 letters), at your offensive headline containing the phrase “Brexit racial abuse”.

This was topped only by the Daily Star, which, following the murder of MP Jo Cox, referred to her alleged killer as “Brexit gunman”.

The default stance of much of our media is to imply that Leave-voters are somehow culpable for the actions of a few sick people (who would probably have kicked-up anyway, whatever the referendum result).

What is truly objectionable, however, was the massed ranks of sulking Remainers, who assembled in London to express their contempt for democracy.

Given the low turn-out of younger voters, who then complained that the older ones had “stolen their future” (by turning out in droves), the message seems to be “I didn’t vote and I want a second vote”.

There is even a so-called legal challenge being attempted, but pro-Brexit group Lawyers for Britain have pointed out that invoking Article 50 does not require parliamentary approval, being “a Crown prerogative”.

Meanwhile, across the water, loud EU voices (Schultz; Juncker) are calling to speed-up a more federalist, centralised Europe, the superstate; now that Britain will cease to annoyingly defend member-state powers!

We’ve had a narrow escape, in the nick of time.
