I AM extremely worried about the public services in Britain.

The NHS, the police, in fact if it is publicly run then it is on its knees.

There is only so much authorities can do before the very fabric of our society will collapse leaving a country hardly recognisable from the country that I had the fortune to grow up in.

I do not want to leave my children and grandchildren a desolate wasteland of high crime, filthy streets, basic medical provision, mediocre schools with the only criteria for a reasonable life is how much money you have.

The country, I am told, is in this predicament because as a whole we have run up massive amounts of debt which means the country has to cut public spending to recompense whoever it is we owe the money to.

There is no escaping it if you owe money then it has to be repaid but our saviour has just been elected in the USA. Mr Trump has said he wants member countries to pay more towards the upkeep of NATO which is also a reasonable request.

I have always believed in the nuclear deterrent; from experience if someone is going to hit you he will think twice if he he knows that you will return the blow with interest. It’s called mutual assured destruction (MAD) and that is what will happen if there is an nuclear war.

This is my idea...

We are going to update the Trident missile systems at a cost of £204 billion. The Americans already say an attack on any NATO country will be counted as an attack on the United States. This means whether we have the bomb or not the Americans will kindly defend us.

Now I believe defending us from nuclear attack is a big job and this why I propose that we give the USA the odd £54 billion from Trident towards the American nuclear shield which will please Mr Trump and then we can use the other £150 billion on the creaking and groaning public services.

This is the quantum theory solution with all possible eventualities allowed for.

For those people who believe we should have a nuclear deterrent, technically we would still have one and for the people who say we shouldn’t have a nuclear deterrent, we technically would not have one.

I have always wanted to believe that I am related to the great physicist James Clerk Maxwell, his most notable achievement was to formulate the classical theory of electromagnetic radiation, bringing together for the first time electricity, magnetism, and light as manifestations of the same phenomenon which paved the way for television, radio, telephones etc.

After my solution for getting over the national debt crisis maybe I am.
