THOSE who are criticising Alan Whitehead for his vote in Parliament against starting the process of leaving the European Union need to face up to the realities.

The world did not stop with the result of the referendum, which has produced more questions to which the leavers have no answers and so try to ignore.

The Leave campaign claimed that Britain could leave the EU easily and the advantages would outweigh the costs.

The truth is becomming increasing clear that leaving the EU is going to be very difficult, complicated, costly and damaging.

Criticising those who point out these uncomfortable facts does not make them go away.

We should be grateful that we have an MP who is prepared to tell us the truth in response to meaningless slogans.
