IT NEVER ceases to amaze me the number of dogs I see with one dog handler. I do not have a dog of my own but often look after friend and families dogs but never more than two at a time. Often I hear handlers saying I am a professional handler but where do they get their qualifications and certificate. Most proffessionals I know have to train for at least 2 years at considerable cost.

Dog walking is a lucrative business often charging £10 an hour. In my experience I have observed handlers with 5 dogs let of the lease and trust me they do not pick up the excreta due to the fact the dogs dive in all directions and it is impossible to have control with one pair of eyes. You may ask why I have not challenged these dog owners and handlers, well trust me 5 dogs are a pack and you only have to read in the papers about how people have been attacked by packs of dogs running riot. I do also get fed up when poor Staffordshire bull terriers are demeaned Many people I know own them from pensioners to young families and they are well behaved but protective of those they love and handled well make great pets and companions.

Authorities need to make a stand and a law saying only 2 dogs per person when out walking. This is a desperate need so people and dogs can enjoy the beautiful public open spaces, with all irresponsible handlers given higher sentences when dogs in their care are dangerous and attack the public and indeed other pets.
