PEOPLE are constantly writing letters saying how useless the council or councillors are.
The reality is people get the representation they deserve. It's the voters and non-voters' fault if the council appears not to be up to standard.
The voters of Southampton vote for the political party that happens to be the flavour of the month.
They do not care who the candidate is.
Most voters do not know the candidates' names or what their abilities are, only what party he or she represents. So long as this continues you will most likely end up with a below par council, who are at the beck and call of the professional council officers.
