HOW much more publicity is the Liberal Democrat parliamentary hopeful Terry Scriven going to try to generate from his attendance at the recent meeting in Fawley following the death of Gregory Kiran Fernandes (In My View, December 13)?.

Mr Scriven showed great discourtesy from the floor by turning his back on the platform guests, including the chairman of the parish council, senior officers and the district council's portfolio holder for crime and disorder, in order to address those present. He continued with a party political rant that was so inappropriate that he was urged to resume his seat by the many irritated residents who had come together to discuss Fawley's tragedy.

The lesson for Mr Scriven is to remember his manners especially when he understands neither our area nor the people who live here and if he wants to say something on a serious matter, he should be sure it is practical and relevant.
