ALOT has been said and written recently about MP’s expenses. Following today’s announcement about a new regime of openness and regulation, I would like Parliament to go much further.

Firstly, a full publication of MPs interests. All their business connections.

Secondly, once elected, all those interests to be separated from the MP and administered by an Independant Body.

Thirdly, no other job whilst an MP.

Fourthly, Revise the hours of work of Parliament to sensible hours per week, the same as most public servants.

Fifthly, Holiday entitlement to be the same as us mere members the public. No shut down of Parliament from June to October.

Finally, a stricter control of "Jollies "

Why should MPs go half way round the world to study something they can see in this country ? Haven’t they heard of video conferencing? They should experience what ordinary citizens experience every day of their lives. Then they would have some idea of how to relate to the people they are elected to represent.
