I HAVE had letters in this column in recent months, debating with Conservative councillor Mr Peter Baillie. While I am a million miles from his political views, Mr Baillie is a Tory, so I know what to expect and get, so I know where I stand.

Contrast this to the leaflet that has dropped through my letterbox from local Lib Dem candidate Robbie Robinson. In it, he states Labour “can’t win” here, so it appears to be appealing to Labour supporters to vote Lib Dem. Well sorry Robbie, many Labour supporting friends of mine in the Eastleigh constituency fell for that old trick in last year’s general election, and have now ended up with a Lib Dem MP in a Tory Government.

If all Labour supporters in Eastleigh had voted Labour, the Tory would have won and deservedly so!

So Lib Dems, you have made your bed, lie in it. If you want to win, appeal to your supporters (if you have any left), to gain victory.

No way will Labour supporters back you any more.

While i will never, ever vote Tory, if they win, it is because they rely on their own support not somebody else’s.
