THIS British Food Fortnight, Country Life, the only major British butter brand, wants to celebrate the diverse range of quality food that Britain produces. We take great pride in our brand’s heritage and have a longstanding commitment to educating consumers on the importance of buying British. So far, 72,000 individuals and organisations have pledged their support to buy British and help British food producers at enjoycountrylife.co.uk.

People in Southampton’s purchasing decisions however are still driven by price, and taste remains a secondary consideration. With the UK importing twice as much food as it exports, agriculture amounts to just 0.5 per cent of our GDP and the share of our local food in the overall food market remains modest at 7.8 per cent.

Country Life wants to help spread the ‘buy British’ message to both the grocery trade and consumers to help educate people in Southampton that British can mean great quality food, while supporting our economy.
