LAST year on the Test Way walk near Hillstreet I was privileged to witness a once-in-a-lifetime scene.

I suddenly noticed a hare in a field so of course put my binoculars on it. As I did so I looked in amazement because I saw a lot of others and in all I counted no fewer than eight in total.

What a site I was privileged to witness. Some of them ran toward me and veered off to continue their playing, for want of a better word!

What has triggered off this story were the thoughts of the date. To me May represents the start of spring.

So let us impress on this Government how the greater majority feel about animal cruelty, when the move to allow hunting and hare coursng etc comes before Parliament.

We live in a period of history when cruelty to animals has become something we must see eliminated starting with the defeat of this Bill when it comes up.
