Our local government is impotent on key issues

I READ councillor David Harrison’s letter about decision-making with interest.

He makes some valid points about power devolving.

For example, he’s correct in his views on fluoride and health issues.

I’m afraid there’s a flaw! These are the very subjects among many others that our local government are impotent on.

As I always point out, it is the unelected bureaucrats in the EU that ultimately make the decisions.

All we do is rubber stamp these directives and regulations in our Parliament, all the way down to running our local government, in which his party has the upper hand in our area.

P J HOUSE (UKIP), Eastleigh.

If only you could ditch Alan Keeble in Southampton you might get a result in this city

I thought Allan Kebble had left Southampton to reside in Manchester. At least that was the plan apparently at last years housing meeting in Southampton.

You only have to hear from him or read his posts to be put off voting UKIP.
If they could ditch him & put some one who has not got a doubtful past maybe they'll get more votes in this city.
Southampton is just the type of place they should be doing well in
