STUART Jebbitt’s letter “Say no to Sainsbury’s (Daily Echo, April 21) on this subject was spot on.
Too much of Eastleigh’s Leigh Road Recreation ground has already been developed.
Let us all stand up and say “enough is enough”ÿ A building of these dimensions will completely dwarf the town centre. It’ll reduce the Rec by about 500 square metres, land that will be lost forever.
Eastleigh is already short of recreation space, well short of the national average.
This is the only remaining green space within the town centre area. Protect it now because once they start building on it, with this development it’ll be too late. It’ll be gone forever.
Eastleigh hosts a number of events on this recreation ground throughout the year for the benefit of everyone, not just for one commercial enterprise. Save our Rec.
DAVE, Eastleigh.
