JULIAN LEWIS, MP for New Forest East, once again questions decisions made by the Prime Minister and the Chancellor of the Exchequer for placing £10 billion into the International Monetary Fund. My understanding is that the IMF was in part a British idea, as was the European Union.

Dr Lewis is no supporter of the coalition Government and yet cannot accept the Conservatives did not win an overall majority at the last general election.

The Conservative Party, as usual, is split between the old-fashioned and the modernisers, which do include the Prime Minster, and that is why Mr Cameron is able to discuss matters with the Liberal Democrats.

My concern is that Dr Lewis, with his continual criticising of his own party, is letting in Labour.

I don’t always agree with all Lib Dem policies and the comments occasionally made by some of the spokesmen. However, I remain loyal as I believe of all the political parties they are still the closest to the thinking of the majority of people, if only they would all go out and vote.

RICHARD GRANT, Burley.
