I DO not venture into the Twitter scene, but your report (Echo, May 19) about the Milford On Sea cash machine paying out double, stated that Lymington police warned people on Twitter that it could be classed as fraud.

I cannot believe that the police actually said this, because when I was taught the law of theft at police training school in 1952, something you never forget, I knew full well that theft by mistake on the part of the owner is clearly defined.

No way is it fraud. Those who took the extra cash are all thieves, there is no other word for it.
