Dear SFC, Firstly, apologies for writing at a time where you undoubtedly have a huge amount of email traffic after the season ticket price announcement, but feel so aggrieved that I have to write.
I am a season ticket holder in Block 17 & have had the same seat since the stadium opened.
Prior to that, I had a season ticket at The Dell for 15 or so years but have been following Saints home & many away games for 30 years.
A couple of years ago (with Saints on their financial knees in League 1), I decided to buy a season ticket next to me in the Chapel family section for my son.
I note that being in Block 17, we are no longer entitled to family section status and if I want to retain the seat I personally chose when St Mary’s was built, I am forced to pay £880 for the both of us.
Or I can (presumably) move to Blocks 20-27 (i.e shoved in the corner) to retain the ‘cheaper’ price of £710?
I paid £380 last season for the both of us so if we renew next season, with the same seats, we have a 230% increase.
Even for the privilege of watching Premier League football, this cannot be justified.
If I elect to move, I am assuming that the existing occupants of Blocks 20 to 27 will have priority.
I was expecting a substantial increase next season, but this is beyond my wildest expectations.
I genuinely thought (obviously naively) that those of us who supported this club through administration and League One and introduced a new generation of Saints fan, might just have had that loyalty rewarded.
How wrong I was.
Welcome to the Premier League.
