WE have just returned from a very enjoyable cruise to the fjords, Iceland and Faroe Isles.

On board ship we met people from all over the world, plus others who had travelled from other parts of the UK, and I have to say their main gripe was getting in and out of Southampton on cloggedup roads, and to be honest I have to agree with them.

Having lived in Southampton all my life I have seen drastic changes, some for the good but a lot for the bad. Not only do we have to put up with every other road being dug up but we are known as traffic light city.

If we want to keep cruise ships using our terminals we have to look at the access issues and try to put them right before the cruise lines decide Liverpool may be a better option after all. We need to make our city accessible and attractive. At the moment it is neither.
