A RECENT letter from a Daily Echo reader expressed concern at South West Trains’ intention to ban bicycles from all trains for the duration of the Olympics .
This was indeed the original proposal but following representation from cycling groups the train company accepted that the ban was unnecessary and would cause widespread inconvenience.
Thanks must be expressed to South West Trains management for listening to the views of cyclists and withdrawing the proposed bicycle ban.
The existing prohibition on a few services in rush hour will remain in place but these do not effect the Southampton area.
