POLICE have issued an update as part of their attempted murder investigation following an incident in Millbrook.

A 46-year-old woman from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after officers were called out to a block of flats on Irving Road in the early hours of Saturday.

A 52-year-old man was taken to Southampton General Hospital after suffering serious head injuries.

His condition was stable and he has since been discharged.

A police cordon was set up around the flats and two officers remained at the scene for much of Saturday.

The majority of residents in the area said they were unaware of what went on.

Now, police investigating the incident have revealed that the woman arrested has been released on police bail.

This means she will be required to return to the police station at a later date.

No witness appeal has been issued so far by the force.
