DEAD cats, tortured hedgehogs, and abandoned dogs are just some of the animal cruelty cases in and around Southampton.
From a Labrador locked in a filthy house to seven dead kittens ditched on the same street, each incident is shocking and disturbing in its own right.
Here are 10 animal cruelty cases from in and around Southampton this year:
Puppies dumped
A group of Labrador puppies was dumped in a muddy field.
The puppies were found by cyclist Rob Carter on the South Downs Way near Cheesefoot Head at around 8.30pm on October 13 last year.
The puppies were around three-months-old and police did not know where they had come from.
The pups were taken in by Three Oaks Boarding Kennels at Bishop's Waltham.

Cat found with head and front paw ‘cut off’
A Southampton family told of their heartbreak after a cat was found decapitated.
Jali the snow Bengal cat was found with her head cut off and front right paw missing.
She was discovered outside the back garden door of a home in Oregon Close on October 15 last year.
Her family believed she could have died at the hands of a ‘cat killer’ and her death was investigated by the police.

Hedgehog tortured to death
A gang of youths killed a hedgehog by cruelly torturing it last Halloween.
Four teens were spotted kicking it around Warren Crescent, which sparked a police investigation.
The defenceless animal was left with multiple fractures and ‘massive internal injuries’.
According to a witness, the teens - believed to be two girls and two boys - laughed throughout the attack and fled the scene when confronted by a resident.
The hedgehog was rushed to a wildlife specialist in Romsey. However, it was later put down.

Man throws and kicks dog
Southampton man Jordan Campbell was jailed after he threw his girlfriend's dog against a wall and kicked it.
The 28-year-old returned to his partner's flat and drunkenly accused a French Bulldog called Frankie of being a 'grass'.
He lashed out at the defenceless dog and hit his terrified partner when she tried to phone for help, a court heard.
Magistrates' jailed him for 20 weeks, banned him from owning animals for two years and disqualified him from driving for three years.
Campbell admitted a total of ten charges including assault by beating, aggravated vehicle taking, criminal damage and causing unnecessary harm to a protected animal.

Cat loses leg after getting caught in animal trap
A 'loving little cat' had its leg amputated after getting caught in a ‘horrific’ animal trap.
The pet was found in a garden in Severn Way, West End, with his leg having been clamped in a snare for 36 hours.
The incident happened on March 6 this year and police issued advice to residents.

Pet rabbit killed in owner's back garden
A police investigation was launched after a pet rabbit was killed at an address on Providence Hill in Bursledon.
Kerry Parker has described the moment she discovered her bunny Little Tommy had been killed.
His head and tail had been cut off, and his body was left in his run.
A vet has confirmed that Tommy's head and tail were "removed with a sharp instrument" and ruled out any animal attack, the family said.
The incident happened on March 7 this year.

Gosport man arrested for 'having sex with dog'
An investigation has continued after a man was arrested on suspicion of sexual offences with a dog.
Police investigating the report have said the crime remains under investigation following an incident involving an animal in Gosport.
Last year, a man in his 60s was arrested on suspicion of a sexual offence involving a living animal.
Officers received reports of a "man having sex with a dog" in Cornwell Close.
The dog was seized and taken into the care of kennels.
The man has since been released from custody, however, the investigation continues.

Labradors filmed living in their own faeces in 'abandoned' home
Shocking TikTok videos showing three dogs living in their own faeces in a seemingly abandoned home went viral on social media.
Piles of excrement, dirty water, and an overgrown garden are just some of the conditions three Labradors were left in, residents say.
The first of a series of TikTok videos, posted between August 14 and 17, sparked outrage among animal lovers after a yellow and two black Labradors were filmed living among excrement.
The house in Totton is believed to be abandoned.

Animals 'abused and tormented' in Marwell Zoo
Four people have appeared in court after an incident that saw a protected animal abused during a late-night break-in at Marwell Zoo.
They are expected to stand trial at Winchester Crown Court.
Nathan Daniels, 21, of Alexander Grove, Fareham, Bradley Green, 23, of Salterns Estate, Fareham, and Jason Huggitt, 23, of Brockhurst Road, Gosport have each been charged with burglary with intent to commit criminal damage following an incident at the Colden Common attraction in February 2021. All three deny the offence.
Daniels and Huggitt also pleaded not guilty to a charge of causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal - a charge Green admitted in front of Basingstoke magistrates on September 15.
Coral Lock, 23, of Southway, Gosport has been charged with assisting an offender but is yet to enter a plea.
All four defendants appeared in the dock at Winchester Crown Court on Wednesday, October 19. They spoke only to confirm their names.

Seven dead kittens found dumped
The RSPCA has launched an investigation after seven dead kittens were discovered on Longfield Avenue, Fareham.
The kittens were all different ages and breeds and were dumped at different times, according to the animal welfare charity.
Some of the cats appeared to be newborns and others were very young.
Each kitten looked like it had been thrown into a bush at the side of the road.
The RSPCA has been investigating since it was reported to the cruelty line at the end of September but no new information has yet come to light.
