THEY have been hyped as the hottest band in New York City.

Public Access TV are currently indie rock’s buzz band and they will be gracing The Joiners stage tonight supporting Circa Waves, another group hotly-tipped to storm the charts.

The Manhattan trio have drawn comparisons to Phoenix and The Strokes thanks to their upbeat brand of new wave guitar pop.

Actress Lindsay Lohan and model and television presenter Alexa Chung were even at their first live show at NYC’s Niagra.

Now the quartet return to Southampton’s famous venue for an evening of hook-driven garage rock.

John Eatherly, PATV’s frontman, said he’s looking forward to rocking out with the Southampton crowd.

He said: “I’m excited to be back in Southampton.

The Joiners is great. There are no barriers there and everyone is enjoying themselves.

“This tour has been pretty good. We did a small tour with Wavves in America and the young crowds tend to get into it. People in the UK get a little bit looser and wilder than a New York crowd – they can be pretty stiff.”

Eatherly said the band enjoys the tag given by the NME as “New York’s hottest new band” but says they are not part of a particular scene in the world’s most famous city.

He added: “We haven’t been a full band for that long.

“The NME tag is a good thing but we separate ourselves from everybody in New York. In Brooklyn there are a trillion bands that all know each other but we don’t really think about getting into a particular scene.

“We are trying to stay as busy as we can, and we have a single coming out soon – hopefully in the next couple of weeks or so.”

Public Access TV are supporting Circa Waves at The Joiners in St Mary Street tonight. Tickets are available from http://joiners.vticket.co.uk/.
