ANYONE who missed seeing classical ballet in Southampton by a world famous company can see them again in Hampshire this weekend.
Comedy, romance and a ballet classic are coming to a Basingstoke’s Anvil theatre as the Russian State Ballet and Orchestra of Siberia perform a trio of much-loved shows.
Tonight sees comedy with La fille mal gardée on stage, where a farm boy woos a flirty farmer’s daughter and they find inventive ways to avoid her mother.
Coppélia follows tomorrow night, with its witty combination of antics and abracadabra, set to Delibes’ soundtrack in a doll maker’s workshop.
Saturday night sees the company present Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, featuring the impressive splendour of the palace ballroom and moonlit lake where swans glide in perfect unison.
Evening performances (7.30pm) are on each day, with a matinee of Swan Lake on Saturday at 2.30pm also. For tickets call the Anvil Arts box office on 01256 844244 or visit anvilarts.org.uk.
