This is a very amusing one-act play about the occupants of the flat below that of Sherlock Holmes.
Major Bennington-Smyth (Rae Tugwell) rants and raves over the noise from above and gives heart-felt descriptions of Holmes and Watson. His gin-soaked wife (Fiona Crosthwaite-Eyre) proves an admirable foil in all this. Mrs Hudson (Mary Hyde) is drawn into their lives when the Major suffers back spasms while trying to straighten a poker. Mysterious Miss X (Isabel Yeo) arrives to a farcical situation as Mrs Hudson and the major’s wife try to treat his back pain.
Director Barry Olorenshaw made the most of the humour in a well-designed set.
