Our unwitting heroes: Stanzas (a terrible poet), Darius (the runt of the litter) and Hermaphrodite (born a girl) travel to compete in the ancient Olympics and take on the heroes of the sporting world with epic results for mankind. The Games is full of clowning, songs and some seriously funny puns.

The show was selected to be one of only a handful of theatre productions to carry the London 2012 Inspire mark and where possible follows the UK's Olympic Torch route.

It appears at Forest Arts in New Milton on Tuesday, ahead of Hampshire’s Olympic Torch Relay stint.

In the opening days of the Spanish Civil War in 1936, the country’s greatest modern poet and playwright was brutally assassinated by a fascist gang, one of the earliest acts of brutality in a vicious war that was to tear Spain apart for three years.

The new work – which will be performed at the Tower Arts Centre, Kings School, Romsey Road, Winchester, tonight – explores his life, friendships and rivalries with Bunuel and Dali, fascination with Gypsy culture and passionate love of fiery Flamenco dance and song.

Created and choreographed by Flamenco dancer Helena, the spectacular features an international company of Flamenco dancers, singers and a guitarist and narrator.
