THE ultimate Broadway musical, 42nd Street, will dance its way to centre stage at The Mayflower this autumn.

Dave Willetts and Marti Webb, pictured right, will co star in the musical comedy when it comes to Southampton from October 2 to 6.

Dave Willetts, who takes the role of Julian Marsh, has headlined countless musicals in the West End and on tour. He has played leads in shows such as Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables, South Pacific and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers both on tour and in the West End.

He recently starred in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Sunset Boulevard in the West End.

Marti Webb, who stars as Dorothy Brock, is one of Britain’s most popular leading ladies.

Her extensive West End credits include lead roles in shows such as Blood Brothers, Tell Me on a Sunday, Song & Dance, Evita, Cats and Thoroughly Modern Millie. She recently headlined the UK tour of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Oklahoma!.

Currently on tour with rave reviews, 42nd Street boasts a stage full of young talented tappers and hoofers bringing to life this legendary show.

It tells of young unknown Peggy Sawyer, who becomes an overnight star when leading lady Dorothy Brock breaks her ankle and she steps into the leading role.

The show features the stunning sets and costumes from the Tony award-winning US production and is directed by the show’s co-author and Broadway director Mark Bramble.

The classic backstage musical features a host of well-known songs, including Lullaby of Broadway, We’re in the Money, Shuffle Off To Buffalo, Keep Young and Beautiful, I Only Have Eyes For You and, of course, the spectacular title number, danced down a flight of steps that lights as brightly as the faces of the cast.
