In a departure from more traditional programming, RAODS had the courage to present two unusual pieces, both exploring the nature of imagination and emotion.

In Philip Ridley’s enchanting Fairytaleheart, two teenagers meet in a disused community centre in the East End of London, Gideon (Scott Gilmour) gently guiding Kirsty (Isabel Mitchell) through her problems within the metaphor of a candle-lit fairy tale.

Captivating performances from these two drew one seductively into the angst-ridden world of today’s youth.

In Michael Olsen’s bizarre Two Women and a Chair, two actresses have been invited to attend an audition – but is it something much more sinister? The cast (from a rotating team of four), Claire Durham as Martine (smart and worldly-wise) and Kathrina Gwynne as Jessie (dowdy and inexperienced) worked most effectively together to challenge the unseen hand that brought them together.
