PENNED by Elliot Davis and James Bourne, Loserville is a buoyant and cute musical that, while not familiar, has a very familiar feel to the story and music. Set in 1971, it is about based around two geeks – Michael Dork and Holly Manson – solving a computer problem and a wish fulfilment for all the outsiders.

Staged with great verve, the production numbers were nicely choreographed and performed with immense energy by the musicians and cast.

The use of back projection worked well, fitting with the themes of computers and science fiction.

The Rubik’s cube-like boxes as sets were a nice touch, although constant reconfiguration did become distracting.

The cast gave their all. Particular mention should go to Charlie Nicholas (Michael) and Zoe Forder (Holly), James Taylor as best friend Lucas and Luke Watson and Sam Matthews, delightful as the Star Trek-obsessed Marvin and Francis.
