EIGHTEEN months ago, Cheriton Players started rehearsing A Month of Sundays by Bob Larbey and all was set for a ten-week rehearsal period, then curtain up.
Serious illness caused the production to be first postponed then cancelled altogether. That is, until it was decided to go ahead after all, illness and setbacks all behind them.
The play itself echoes this reality – a wonderful mix of laughter, poignancy and sympathy; it's been a long road to final production for everyone involved but A Month of Sundays is just days away.
Set in a Surrey rest home, Cooper and Aylott are two friends who enjoy nothing more than a whisky, a game of chess and some seriously funny banter to get them through the day. Cooper’s relationships with his friend, his nurse, his daughter, son-in-law and cleaning lady are put to the test as infirmity becomes a reality.
A Month of Sundays runs from Wednesday to Saturday at Cheriton Village Hall.
