SWEENEY Todd, the acclaimed musical produced during Chichester’s Festival 2011, has scooped an Evening Standard Theatre Award.

The production won the Ned Sherrin Award for Best Musical. Another Festival 2011 production, Singin’ in the Rain, was also nominated in the same category.

Sweeney Todd was directed by Jonathan Kent, featuring Michael Ball in the title role and Imelda Staunton as Mrs Lovett. The production transferred to the West End in February 2012, where it ran until September.
