ANVIL Arts in Basingstoke has something for everyone in its programme for 2012.

Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra returns to The Anvil on January 19 when Kirill Karabits conducts the orchestra and soloist Simone Lamsma in a programme of Bach, Beethoven and Shostakovich.

For those who like rock, The Classic Rock Show on January 20 features an amazing mix of tracks from the ten bestselling rock albums of all time.

British folk-rock legends Fairport Convention appear at The Anvil on January 27, celebrating their 45th anniversary.

There is great music too from Joan Baez on March 10, Gilbert O’Sullivan on March 27, Jools Holland on May 2 and Elvis Costello and the Imposters on May 27. Already on sale for later in the year is Don McLean, at The Anvil on October 31.

Strictly fans can enjoy Brendan Cole at The Anvil on January 29 and Anton and Erin on March 16 and 17.

Families will be treated to five performances of The Moscow State Circus from February 9 to 11, while younger children can see the theatrical premiere of Little Princess at The Anvil on February 14 and 15. The Science Museum Live on Tour returns with fabulous new experiments for 2012 on March 6 and 7, and The Gruffalo will be dropping in at The Haymarket from May 3 to 5.

For adults at The Haymarket, there is some great theatre including the Original Theatre Company with the Olivier Award-winning Our Country’s Good from January 25 to 28 and Ian Dickens Productions with Haunted from February 22 to 25, while the Sherlock Holmes mystery The Hound of the Baskervilles comes from March 28 to 31.

Barry Cryer comes to The Haymarket on March 3 with his one-man show Butterfly Brain.

Music fans can enjoy singer-songwriters Ruth Moody on January 20 and Zoe Muth and the Lost High Rollers on January 27. The following day, Empirical return to The Forge for an evening of sophisticated jazz.

Comedians heading for Basingstoke include, at The Anvil, Stewart Lee on March 9 and Jimmy Carr on June 12 and October 2. Rhod Gilbert returns with his new show The Man With The Flaming Battenburg Tattoo on June 28.
