An elderly Hampshire couple died in a horror crash last night, police have revealed.
They were travelling south on the A34 when their red Ford Fusion car careered off the road and landed on its roof.
Police today revealed that the couple were from the Fareham area, but have not yet been formally identified, although next of kin have been informed.
The 69-year-old woman died at the scene of the accident near Three Maids Hill, just north of Winchester.
Her 70-year-old husband was taken to Southampton General Hospital but died their later.
The road was closed for almost six hours after the crash, which happened at about 6.30pm last night.
Police investigations are continuing today into what cause the car to leave road as it is not believed that any other vehicles were involved.
