Three drivers were caught using their phones behind the wheel on a Hampshire road within the first half hour of crackdown by Hampshire Police.

The drivers were stopped by officers on the A32 in Fareham earlier today.

It comes after the government doubled the penalties for driving using mobile phones behind the wheel.

Elsewhere in the county, police stopped three motorists in Totton this morning for using the phones after the tougher stance came into force, including one driver who already had 27 points on their licence.
