IT’S BEEN a day of legends and laughter on Southampton Common today for the Second day of the Common People Festival.

Technical issues delayed the performance of Prince's band New Power Generation by half an hour, but this extraordinary band reignited the party atmosphere with a soulful, electrifying and funky set including Cream and Time.

Paying tribute to the late music icon, they told the crowd to give it up for Prince as they wouldn't be here without him.

Their singer Mackenzie is a superstar in his own right, who gave a stunning solo performance of the ballad Nothing Compares to You and the incredible Kiss.

Smash hits 1999 and Get Wild took the energy and feel good vibe to a whole new level.

Boney M opened with the appropriately titled Sunny on another scorching hot day, followed by Holiday with lots of singing , dancing and arm swaying by the crowd.

It was Wall-to-wall hits with the incredibly youthful founding member Maisie Williams leading the band on classics such as Daddy Cool, Ma Baker, Brown Girl in a Ring and 1977 smash, Rivers of Babylon.

The afternoon really took flight when Snap! roused the crowd with well-known hits The Power and Rhythm is a Dancer and ultimate party band, The Cuban Brothers put a massive smile on everybody’s faces with their famous blend of funk, soul and riotous comedy.

The evening ended with the legendary band of brothers, The Jacksons, who chronicled 50 years of hits!
