A BEAUTY therapist is over the moon after her salon was named 'beauty salon of the year' by Daily Echo readers.
Ange’s Brow and Waxing Studio, on Shirley High Street, won the Daily Echo’s competition with 143 votes.
Owner and founder, Amarjeet Kaur, said she was very grateful to her loyal customers for the recognition.
The 42-year-old said she screamed when she found out she had won.
She said: “A few days ago we had something come through the post from the Daily Echo. One of our staff opened it and realised that we had won.
“I was in the salon at the time, I screamed when she told me this which made everyone jump and then people started asking what happened.
“It helps a lot to have this recognition when we are in the middle of a cost-of-living crisis.
“Everyone wants to save money so to know which services are good helps [customers] and helps us.”
She added: “It’s nice to see the clients recognise my work and I have a very strong relationship with my clients and customers.”

Opening the salon seven years ago was a “scary” decision to take, Amarjeet said.
“I had never not worked before, but at the time I couldn’t work because I had a slipped disc and was out of work for nine months.
“I always worked in the beauty industry and never thought of owning my own business but at that point, I started to think about it and I knew I had to believe in myself and start the business.
“It was a scary decision to make but I knew I could do it.”
Amarjeet said the first year was tough for the business but she was determined to make it work.
At the time she had just had her daughter, Ange, whom the salon is named after.
As she struggled to pay for nursery bills, she started taking her daughter to work.
She said: “I had her in the salon with me, my customers were happy with me having my daughter there so that’s what I did.”
