THE funeral of a Hampshire man who died when he fell from a cliff while on a holiday to celebrate his 45th wedding anniversary will be held later this month.
Peter Scurr, 69, of Vespasian Road, Southampton, was killed instantly when he slipped from a narrow cliff-top footpath in Jersey and plunged 40ft onto the roof of a concrete German war tunnel, in June.
His wife Lorraine was left with multiple serious injuries after also losing her footing shortly afterwards.
The retired nurse, 65, was airlifted from the Channel Islands to Southampton General Hospital for treatment in the neurological intensive care unit, and it is understood she has been recovering in a city care home since.
Mr Scurr’s funeral will be held at St Patrick’s Church, Portsmouth Road, Woolston.
The service will be at 11.15am on October 18 and will be followed by a private cremation.
In line with Mr Scurr’s wishes, the family have requested no flowers, but any donations should be made to Guide Dogs for the Blind, through Jonathan Terry, Independent Funeral Directors, Peartree Avenue, Southampton.
