Gaston Ramirez facing another month on the sidelines, confirms Saints boss Nigel Adkins
4:15pm Thursday 18th October 2012 in Sport
Gaston Ramirez
SAINTS manager Nigel Adkins has confirmed that club-record signing Gaston Ramirez faces another four weeks on the sidelines.
The 21-year-old required hospital treatment after sustaining a nasty leg injury in training two weeks ago, forcing him to miss the recent 2-2 draw with Fulham.
As the Daily Echo previously reported, Saints feared that Ramirez could miss up to six weeks as a result of what was described by Adkins as a dead leg that resulted in severe swelling in the player's thigh.
The Saints boss confirmed today that the Uruguay international is expected to be out for some time yet.
''I think six weeks is probably about right, but we'll see how he progresses through the rehab stages,'' Adkins said.
''If the time is from the medical department, it is from the date of original injury.
''He is showing good signs of recovery at this moment of time, but he won't be fit for the weekend.''

So what the f*** were they doing in training to end up putting our best player out for 6 weeks? As if we didn't have enough issues with poor performances we put our best player ( by a million miles) out of action. A little bit of sense and care in traning please N. I was hoping the "six weeks" assessment might have been a bit of a smokescreen put up by NA but it sounds to be true, more's the pity.

If there was any sign this was a deliberate or over-the-top challenge they should be disciplined/fined.

This injury will define our season and if the tackle was intentional the player needs to be disciplined. Make no mistake this type of injury with possible muscle damage can easily be career ending. Not sure the management team are being totally honest abd are managing our expectations. The real concern is we put all our money and future into this player who, in the games played up till now, really did make us look a whole lot better. We cannot afford to be without him. I fear the worst from the next four games, which may well cement our return to the Championship.

Has there been any suggestion by anyone at all that it was intentional?
If they are talking about a few weeks, where does "career ending" come from?
When have the management team EVER talked accurately about injuries? The opposition would love to know his exact return date.
You're expecting a return to the championship on the back of this?
One (very good) player is out of the team for a few weeks and you've extrapolated it to deliberate damage causing the possible end of his career and leading to relegation.
Seriously, you need to calm down, have a pint and stop catastrophising.

Or are you just taking a stab in the dark?
Snebs, when you take the players training do you tell them to avoid kicking each other or do you wrap cotton wool round the important ones and hope that when they play a real game they will realise that the opposition are actually allowed to take the ball away?

Here is an idiots guide ( no offence ) to the slow process of reabsorption of hematomas.
They allow the broken down blood cells and hemoglobin pigment to move in the connective tissue with Gravity as the main determinant of this process.
Hematomas can reduce mobility of a member and present roughly the same symptoms as a fracture.
Slow movement allows disolving back into bloodstream.
The term "dead leg" does not really apply as an accurate diagnosis...

wow did i stirr up a lot of comments, good stuff too, way to go people. The truth of the matter is yes when you invest your whole season in one player, which effectively we have, then you do need to protect them. How you train where you play them and work with them to keep them away. as much as you can, from the hackers in the game. During the week of his injury we lost two players to dead legs in training one more serious than the other. So back to my point we were obviously running a drill that resulted in these injuries. Not good management by any standards. We need to survive this season, shipping goals like we are we definately will not survive. I dont see anything being done to reverse these results. Just saying guys or am I missing something?

Here is an idiots guide ( no offence ) to the slow process of reabsorption of hematomas.
They allow the broken down blood cells and hemoglobin pigment to move in the connective tissue with Gravity as the main determinant of this process.
Hematomas can reduce mobility of a member and present roughly the same symptoms as a fracture.
Slow movement allows disolving back into bloodstream.
The term "dead leg" does not really apply as an accurate diagnosis...
well done!

Who did that come from? Someone who was there? Did no-one from Saints coaching staff know that this had happened?

This injury will define our season and if the tackle was intentional the player needs to be disciplined. Make no mistake this type of injury with possible muscle damage can easily be career ending. Not sure the management team are being totally honest abd are managing our expectations. The real concern is we put all our money and future into this player who, in the games played up till now, really did make us look a whole lot better. We cannot afford to be without him. I fear the worst from the next four games, which may well cement our return to the Championship.
Who did that come from? Someone who was there? Did no-one from Saints coaching staff know that this had happened?
You sound like you have an inside man - what *exactly* happened? Was it a "100%" tackle that caused the injury?
Or are you just guessing?

the best thing about the posters here who have their caps over their eyes is that there are clearly three or four occassional posters here who are obviously "close to the party" and who from time to time post stuff that most miss, they usally get slaughtered by the "true supporters" but I think I have worked out who one of them is and the other two dip out when it gets a bit heated but they are clearly knowledgable. The time the sturrock-trouser-dar

Just saying guys or am I missing something?

wow did i stirr up a lot of comments, good stuff too, way to go people.

Although, maybe not. I have first-hand, very reliable, inside knowledge that Thomasupton is Bodmin the sequel, just as Tebourba is/was Monticristo and MGRA isn't Snebs but wishes he was.
Oh, and Osprey is St Halo and Angus is one and the same as Horse101, Confucious is Seedhouse who is also Aunt Elpeth, HedgeEndBob is also IOWFran, Velleity is Randre, Dadofmy3sons is Alice'sCat, Yorkie is Bill or Puppy (not sure which), Retford could be both, RedArmy1 is really REDARMY1NOSURRENDER and Slugger is ..........

A dead leg doesn't necessarily come from a bad challenge, it can be sustained innoxiously and I speak from experience. When it happened to me I was simply shielding the ball from a teammate who slipped when trying to take the ball off me from behind. His knee hit the back of my standing leg around the thigh area and the impact created a bruise that ran from the top of my leg down to my ankle. Fortunately when I went to the hospital I didn’t require an operation, but I didn’t play footy again for over a month.
Those who seem to 'know' something but seem unable to back it up, please read and take note.

Regards all the debate on why people think I am a d1ckhead for stating I think GR will be out until December, a mate of mine who works on professional sportsmen rehabilitation summed it up pretty well. My nipper had his photo taken with GR last weekend, not a limp, crutch or wheelchair in sight, so maybe he's not as bad as we all fear.
Lots of talk but in reality saying nothing at all and jibing straight out of the school playground

I have a large collection of signed shirts but frankly (excuse the pun) if I had his it would be hung up in the toilet for emergencies

For example I know 100% that a certain candidate who is on the media and bookies shortlist for a currently vacant managers job will NOT take the job. yet odds are still being offered on him being the next manager.....how do I know this ? pretty simple really, I know him ! Why would it not be appropriate to post details here ? because he has not yet made a public statement. Its all about what you should and should not say but its no big deal....

Neither of those facts could possibly cause any trouble to your informant.
I have asked you for that info three times now and you have avoided answering every time. I'm really hoping you do let us in on your inside info this time. There is no reason not to tell us.

However, there are two things which I generally don't like; one is when someone resorts to abuse without having received any, the other is when someone posts as though they know the facts but base their view on rumour and what has popped into their mind. Nothing wrong with saying 'I think that ......' or, 'maybe ....' we all like to second guess. However, most of the time we DON'T know, yet those who act as though they do have to expect others to take a pop at them. So, in the end, by default, they become mischief makers.

Strasbourg Saint wrote:Absolutely Strassie, only they know, and only they know why they do what they do, it is sad that some genuine ones get blasted because of the antics of the wrong'uns and don't come back, when it should be an open Forum where everyone can air their views, as soon as a poster resorts to personal abuse I disregard anything they say.
OSPREYSAINT wrote:Morning, Osprey. You were busy last night, stellar work!
Now then Strassie you know I have only had two post names OSPREYSAINT and Saintdon13 when the Ospreysaint name was compromised by a troll. Any other references to other posts are simply not me. I may be a tease but a WUM / Troll I definitely am not.
In fact, that copycat troll was on my mind when I wrote that post. To be fair, someone did the same to GHK and it all got very confusing.
I'm sure there are some WUMs on here who post as two different people to back up their arguments. However, I have absolutely NO evidence to back that arguement up - FACT!
As for Ramirez, we'll see. I think we all agree the sooner he's fit, the better.
