Nigel Adkins was a happy man after seeing his side book their place in Sunday’s FA Cup fourth round draw with a 2-0 win over Premier League new boys Blackpool.
Saints were good value for their victory, which came courtesy of second half goals from Lee Barnard and Guly do Prado.

Ian Holloway did make a host of changes to his Blackpool team but so too did Nigel Adkins and it was the Saints who won through.
Adkins said: “I thought it was a good game of football.
“Is it an upset? Well it was a Premiership team we just went and played.
“They made changes to their starting 11 and we made eight changes from the last team we played in the Football League so both squads have been utilised and I was delighted we set about ourselves against an exceptionally good team who have been magnificent for football.
“For us it was good, there was a big support again and we’ve entertained them.
“We should have scored more goals than we did but the ones we did score were excellent.
“We pressed as a team to win the ball back ever so well on numerous occasions which led to Lee Barnard’s goal and when Guly came on we had the impact off the bench and what a fantastic strike that was to go and win a game of football.
“We are delighted to be in the hat for the fourth round which is great for the supporters.”
