He just said that getting 50 per cent of the first team as home grown players from the academy would be very difficult.

Hardly something that needs justifying, really.

ok so i was listening to saints player and the jay rod pre-wigan press conference whoever was asking him questions asked him if he spoke spanish, to which jay replied no, the interviewer then said and i quote "because i was going to say you could help gaston ramirez settle in if he came to the club" to which jay replied

"YEAH I'V TRIED TOO BUT THE CONVERSATIONS ARE QUITE HARD BECAUSE I CANT SPEAK IT SO"

that says to me that gaston's already a saint.... in the least surely he must have spent time with the players as jay rod has tried to have conversations with him, and he's grinning from eat to ear during the conversation, and although you cant see his face you can tell the interviewer is grinning too

imho gaston's a saint maybe i read to much into it but i dont think so check it out for yourselves on saints player

What a sh*t day. In terms of weather that is, Going to be a great day for us Saints though.
Cannot wait for the atmosphere again.
Went to the pre-season games, was like being in a morgue.
A good win for us today, 4-1 I'm going for.
Taking the advice from the OS,Coming over early to soak up the atmosphere, via the King Alfred.

The wait is nearly over, full house great atmosphere tough game we are back.
Think we will win today but only by the odd goal. They have been in the Prem for seven years now so they seem to know how to survive. We will have to be very patient, get behind the boy's for 93 minutes with good solid support. The time to show any slaging off of the team is AFTER the game if, and i do mean if things dont go our way. THIS IS NOT A MUST WIN GAME, but three points with your great support will be a great start to the season.
I know Nigel and Nicola are trying to bring in more players but i am getting cheesed off with all these playes we are supposed to be after with no end product. Rather nothing is said and then be pleasently surprised when it happens.

Well the weather looks like being cr@p but then it is an english summer!
Aside from that wish I could be there for what will be an incredible day.
Previously posted as Perthsaint2 but have now decided to come clean, Saints supporter for 43 years and proud of it even though from a long way off.

Today is my 70th birthday...Supporter since I was 8 yrs old....Looking forward to a great game and hopefully a great win.
Will sit in my stand seat and hope they produce the football shown at Man.City.
After that game I have no fears about Saints future in the Premier League.
There may even be a shock selection for todays game ?????
