THOMAS Gravatt has made a very good response to the sender who wrote to say that students should pay council tax; he explained very well why students should not pay it.
No student should pay council tax, it should be the landlord.
Just to remind the sender of the letter saying students should pay, in my generation education was free and now we get free bus passes. Students do not get either of these, they have to pay fees for university, do not get free travel and will leave university with a big debt.

He is completely correct in saying that students do not have much money but do add to the economy. Students pay landlords quite enough rent therefore landlords should pay the council tax not students.
As Thomas mentioned, nowhere else in the country do students pay council tax and Southampton would be a lot poorer without students should they be forced to pay council tax.
