A CHARITY cream tea, held at the Cloud Hotel in Brockenhurst on Sunday part of the Hampshire Food Festival, raised £700 to be shared between the Variety Club Children's Charity and Naomi House Children's Hospice.
Among the guest enjoying chef Alex Guilfoy’s delicious scones and the sunshine in the hotel garden was Former Radio 1 DJ and Crackerjack presenter Ed ‘Stewpot’ Stewart, a Variety Club member and friend of hotel proprietor Avril Owton.
Mrs Owton thanked Wrights Dairies for donating the clotted cream and Jennifer Williams of Naked Jam for donating the strawberry jam.
Naked Jam, based at Lymington have been spreading themselves about during the food festival and yesterday (Tuesday) proprietor Jennifer Williams was running a jam-making master class.
Jamming sessions are also being run by Hampshire Jam at Winchester. They will be passing on their expertise in preserve and chutney making in their kitchen on July 11, 18, 22 and 25.
If you prefers something stronger The Plough at Longparish will be mixing the grape and the grain when they host a food fair tomorrow (Thursday) from 6pm with Danebury Vineyard and Twisted Nose Gin.
The food festival, organised by Rownhams-based Hampshire, runs throughout July. For details and reports of events look on the Echo website.
