CHARLATANS frontman Tim Burgess, pictured, will be adding a foodie twist to the music on offer at this year’s Isle of Wight Festival.

Starting life as a metaphysical diner on Twitter and BBC 6Music, he created a virtual world of listening parties, tea and happenings with Tim Peaks Diner.

He’ll be setting up for real for a weekend of fun in the fields at Isle of Wight Festival this June – and Saturday night headliners The Killers could even drop in for a brew.

Tim will be supplying the best in music, DJs, Q&A’s, book readings, poetry and a place to enjoy a well deserved cuppa and cake.

He said: “We’ve got two days of shenanigans planned on the Saturday and Sunday – there’ll be coffee, of course, plus we’re doing cocktails in teapots. Music wise, I’ve asked lots of friends to come and play. I’ll be doing a couple of sets too. Last time we did a festival Edwyn Collins swung by and brought RodDy Frame with him. We’ll be scouring the line-up too and seeing if we can tempt a few people into an impromptu gig.

“There’s a couple of bands I’ve been working with who’ll be packing their tents and wellies. A band called Hatcham Social who've been touring with us and whose debut album I produced.

There’s a brilliant new band called Slowgun who’ve just recorded an EP for our label, O Genesis. I grabbed Brandon Flowers’ phone number when I gave The Killers an NME award recently, so a text will be heading their way.

“Simon Rimmer made us some biscuits that he’s given us the top secret recipe to. They’re called Simon’s Diamonds and they go down a treat.

We’ll have Timgerbreadmen too and Tim Peaks triple coffee biscoffee cake.

“Plus I just worked with a brilliant dub reggae producer called Prince Fatty – we might have ourselves a summer smash on our hands!”

n Isle of Wight Festival takes place from June 13 to 16 at Seaclose Park, Isle of Wight. Tickets are on sale now from isleofwightfestival.com.
