ONCE again the rumour season is upon us.
Hundreds of players you have probably never heard of will be supposedly on their way to St. Mary's, with countless more alleged to be on their way out.
To try and keep track, the Daily Echo is once again providing an at-a-glance guide to the latest rumours involving Saints.
They won't all come true and some will be pure fiction thanks to some bored fans in their bedrooms, yet many fans can't resist seeing the latest names Saints have been linked with.
Don't take the list as a comprehensive guide to moves that are definitely going to happen - they are just rumours.
However, some will undoubtedly come true.
• See the rumours from January.
During the January transfer window, many fans actually seemed to get upset about the list, so if you don't like it, please don't bother looking at it!
If you come across any rumours, please add them to the comments section below or email dan.kerins@dailyecho.co.uk, along with information about where you heard it.
If they don't look completely made up, we'll try and add them to the list below.
Over 250 comments have been deleted, to try and make it easier for fans to keep track of the latest contributions from readers.
Sorry if this means your previous comment has been deleted, but this thread is very popular and has to serve us all until the end of August!
I have removed a further 270 comments to make sure it is as easy as possible to keep up with what others are saying.

Connolly I'd love to stay if he's happy to be nursed along and have 15 mins at the end or half game starts I can't see him as a front line starter. I'd like to Alex on a lot more.. the kid wants it and looks hungry to get into the box and reek havoc but that will come in 15min parcels.
Dan this are the transfer rumours I'd like to see happen:
Darren Ambrose
Neil Danns
Kris Commons
Antonio (Loan)
Rob Hulse
Tom Spurr
Outs:
Wotton, Perry, Connolly, Pulis, White, Ostemober, Holmes should be released in my opinion.
How many you guys think these will happen?
COYR, going to be one exciting summers.
P.s I think Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain be much better more experience next year.

Players to leave in the summer; Waigo, Ostemabor, Perry, Wotton, Holmes, Connolly (not proved his fitness), Gillett, Pullis, White & Thompson. Also, possibly Barnard (too often on the bench, rarely completes 90 mins when he starts and AP doesn't seem to see him as the ideal partner for Lambert)?!!

There is still another weekend of league football, then the FA Cup (come on Chelsea!) and after that the play offs then I am on my holidays then it is the world cup and before you know it we are are into pre season. So this summer the strees and tension of rumours and the wumming from fishy friends down the road will be less of a problem unless the biggest catastophy in the history of the FA cup should occur then I don't think I shall come back from my holidays. I just could not stand the gloating of a bunch of frauds and cheats. It goes so much against the grain and flies in the face of all that is decent and honest.

So Mr. Lloyd didn't reveal who the mystery buyer is then yesterday. It’s as I thought, no-one is remotely interested in the club. It also came to light yesterday that the 2nd skint Arab didn't even do due diligence, and was shocked when he realised the size of the debt. With no home games left one has to ask how are they going to pay the wages throughout the summer, the cup final money is to be held back to cover FA football related debts. With the club now on the brink of extinction, no other team will bid for Pompey players until the last minute, waiting to see if they can pick them up for free. Only one team in Hampshire is starting to sound very true. What are us PO postcode Saints going to do for fun when they go under, oh well never mind

It's not about taking things seriously at all. If we went back to the strap for cash days, the club and fans would not welcome such an article. Though we are not in that position anymore, all this does is fan the interest of any so called links. All your doing is keeping the rumour going longer than what it should, or might do.
The point is I am not upset, just concerned and just because a rumour has a link, that gives you licence to give more croverage to it? If we should not take it too seriously then what is the point too?
I would be interested to know, that if your link and added coverage did turn say Lamberts head to follow the money, would you be proud? Wallcott was sold cheaply through media rumours and Wenger pr marchine to make things happen for his needs, and at our expense. Why as a so called club paper would you want to pour excitmentand keeping any rumours alive and which may turn into something more radical.
Why can't you simply report on facts and actual signings?

We do report facts and actual signings - but this is a story collating all the rumours involving Saints in the transfer window. That's the whole point of it, hence the clearly marked headline. As it clearly annoys you, I can only suggest you ignore this article, rather than continually reading it and posting on it! Besides, these articles are among the most popular we do on the website, suggesting the appetite to read football rumours is there. Just read some of the comments on this article saying how much people enjoy the rumour season. Saint wrote: This is really a silly article! Now you've got Lambert and Punch on the transfer list to Celtic. Only for another media lead Celtic fan lead article to pick up on this and print over and over again trying to force the issue all summer, or turn such a clubs head in this direction. Trying to create summer long articles for the DE? Daily Echo / Dan this is really a childish atempt to create interest in the paper gossip side. I sometimes wonder if your are Saints fans or simply poopey fans. As you do not think things through and I hope for your sake nothing happens from your handy work here! In the past this would of been too risky, and now you seem to be getting carried away with the excitment that we have money backing us now. No wonder NC has ban you from the ground.A few points: Firstly, I'm not banned from St. Mary's, and secondly, the Lambert and Puncheon rumours have links to their source. As I've said in the article, it is a list of rumours - they exist, so don't get too upset about them or take it too seriously.

James will released as well, don't know what happened to him but I guess his services aren't required. Connolly tries hard and play wells, but is too injury prone got to get Lee Trundle in.

Little clue if I may.......trying reading what is being said firstly. You might find there are points being made of the importance / reasoning to worth of rumours ( and for Dan in or out of the club! Yes if you printed a ridiculous rumour that Wayne Rooney has feel out with Alex and is on his way to Saints, and by some miricale it happen. Then yes Dan I would not complain about some quality coming into Saints. As a Saints fan for many years than you, why the hell would I?)
Canda boy, if you want to see what I am actually saying, then read what rumours do to real passionate Saints fans on the Alan Pardew future colunm. By the way the title says it's about AP future, and that as you put it, is about what it is! Ans. As a Saints fan any article good or bad is of interest to me. You obviously not keen on debates for your articles, and seemed more annoyed than anyone here.

Ans. I have never suggested it has infulence the price. But media gossip is widely used now as a tool to turn players heads and look for those transfers which might not of happen otherwise. Rumours can not be stopped but I only ask that you accept that media rumours can be used to manoeuvre a possible move, and just a bit of care is needed with such rumours and possibly suggest their worth / strenght / origin of the rumour. Some rumours are best left alone to die and forget.

Neil Danns would be a terrific buy. He's exactly what's missing - a creative midfielder who can dominate the park. I'd rate our chances of signing him more highly if Palace had been relegated, mind, and think he'll be looking to move to a higher-placed club rather than a lower one.
Talking of teams in the poop, I see Preston have put Neal Trotman on the transfer list. I wouldn't mind seeing him back.

Having no recognised right back on the books may mean Saints are held to ransom, when trying to sign one.

Aye, I'd rather we signed players from this level or below who are on their way up and hungry. This time last year Rickie Lambert wasn't exactly a household name on the south coast and now look at him. I imagine the players who end up making the biggest difference for us this year will be ones most of us have never heard of.

Just picked this up of the BBC gossip page Southampton are planning to bring their former midfield player Andrew Surman back to St Mary’s from Wolves a year after the ex-England under 21 international moved to Molineux for £1.2m. South African-born Surman, 23, made only four starts with Wolves after leaving Saints to try his luck in the Premier League.

Okay I have been on that football rumours website for the last two weeks and this piece is the most realistic one I've seen on there about Saints. 19 May 2010 21:08:11 Southampton FC are looking to sign the following players on free transfers (although a couple of them will go to tribunal as they are under 24) to add depth to the squad: Michail Antonio Albert Adomah Stephen Dawson Ryan Dickson Inigo Calderon They are also looking at possible loan deals for Vokes and Surman from Wolves and Lucas Juktiewitz from Everton. All 3 our Southampton born and bred and Saints fans – and all have expressed a desire to play for the Saints. Saints are also looking at Simeon Jackson and Adam Le Fondre as well as Craig Bryson for small fees. They may also take a look at Racon, Bailey and Semedo now that Charlton will definately be in League 1 next season and are in financial difficulties. They may also take another look at Neil Danns and Elliot Ward – both players they tried to sign back in January. Dann's cousin runs a pub in Soton apparently! Nathan Tyson has also been suggested as possible target as he's apparently keen to move closer to his family in Reading. Lee Holmes, Anthony Pulis, Lee Holmes will all be on their way out of St Mary's!

Rumours about rumours. Rumour has it that a Mr. Steven Gerrard will leave Liverpool after World Cup following the overturning of his super injunction to prevent press mentioning him, Cris Commons and Phil Neal's daughter in the same article. So AP there is an opportunity to outbid Real Madrid. Alternatively Terry Paine is out of contract.

To me (a mere overseas clueless useless radio fan) every day they are not there is nail in the coffin of the cause. Can we have a pre-season Echo on-line Forum? lol but do it early in the morning or in the evening 2am NZ is hard winter yakka. Just a wee rant towards the Saints Site Does anyone else think it is a cluttered mess, with no forum and to many glitches in the player link.. repeated log-ins are a pain in butt and the content is disappointing. I have this constructive rant as someone who has worked in I.T. who uses the site everyday and the player regularly and would like to see a revamp with less glitz and more more sense.. Cheers

I really don’t understand why people keep knocking this forum, I think it's great for the Saints foreign legion, as I get a true sense of what the Saints fan is thinking and I can the gauge their mood, which I can’t experience living in OZ. On another note, does any one else think the Saints website is really poorly designed with little content, nothing to wet the appetite for the coming season, just full of advertising, except for showing the brilliant new shirt. I always go to this forum 1st thing in the morning not the Saints website, which doesn’t seem right to me.

He also fits our profile of;
Few years before his peak,
Experienced at this level,
injury free career,
time running down on his contract.
Goal every two games for R&D, every three for Gills, good even compared to RL & LB, but he has different qualities.

We've got a top squad! Let me go through it: In goal, two top L1 keepers in Davis and Bialkowski At Leftback, two top L1 LB's in Harding and Dickson At Rightback, two top L1 RB's in Butterfield and Richardson At Centreback I think Danny Livesey would be a good signing to compete with Fonte, Jaidi and Seabourne. SIGN DANNY LIVESEY!!! On the wings we've got Lallana, Puncheon, Holmes and Joseph Mills but I think another winger would be good, but I don't know who. In CM we've got Wotton, Hammond, Schneiderlin but apart from them we look a bit short, another CM too would be good. Up front we've got King Lambert, along with Barnard and Connolly, so I think we need another striker also! So to have a really, really strong squad I think we need a top L1 centre-back, winger, central midfield, and striker. THEN WE ARE DEFINITELY GOING UP

As for a striker this is just my personal thoughts but I think someone like shefki kuqi is being looked at as lamberts back up, personally I would love it if we got Austin from swindon, but I doubt they will want to have lost both paynter and austin in the close season. Got to give credit where its due.I can see us,(promotions expected) to be talked about as "the example" of how an english club ,could and should be run.
Just get that striker and midfield general in and we are sorted.

We'll have Emmanuel Frimpong on loan please sir. If it is us or Charlton.. common sense says Saints as we will send him back a better player and could afford him if all goes well and you'd like to sell. Emmanuel would enjoy playing with the young Captain of France U20 side too... good experience for him. See you on Sky in the Sash on Saturday then Em.. I'll be watching from NZ see ya.

At the start of last season, Pardew's prefered defence was Harding, Jaidi, Trotman, Murty.
By the end of January, he had changed to Harding, Fonte, Seaborne, Otsemobor.
Now it is Dickson, Fonte, Jaidi, Butterfield.
Pardew is the worst judge of ability I have ever seen at Southampton. He has already wasted good money on numerous players, whilst letting too much of our quality leave for nothing. I hope he spends not another penny. A small child could get us out of division 3 with our current squad.

Southampton fc are going to sign.
brett pitman-5 year deal-for a fee of £1.2 million.
chris lines-4 year deal-for a fee of £700k.
these two deals to happen tomorow.
matt phillips-3 year deal-for a fee of £650k.
This one has a nice ring about it.. better than a few of the others.. Could Phillips be the competition for Chambo Pards was talking about? Seems hot though as everyone is after the lad, similarly scores of rumours about Pitman.

i know this is crazy but I would love a "shock buy" as something to stimulate the club and raise status.
I am not usually that way but I think it would be a fun time for someone like a "Beckham" to sign!
Ha, I realize I probably put my neck out there on that one, but I hope you catch my drift. Something big would be great!!
Vassel, even Heskey... (ouch waiting for another blow) but someone with reputation would be fun in my mind.

I watched the extended highlights of Bournemouth several times.. looking at Punch in the right corner.. does anyone else see his one footedness screaming out for the left wing rather than the right? Watching him double back out of the corner and stab at it with his left foot seemed a waste. However.. what a talent!!! and what a season he is going to have... with Adam on the Right.

Had a rant to the rumour site about more Adam Lallana guff.. he won't go to Burnley for 4m.. WUMs.a work permit for who?????

Appeal to the Faithful: The standard of posts in the Echo threads has fallen so low that many of the regular sensible fans have chosen not to post. I've always enjoyed the fact that The Echo allow all to post opinion even if it differs from Saints genuine Supporters. So really it's up to the faithful fans to keep posting and either ignore the idiot boo brigade who have never supported anything in their lives or let them have a piece of your mind. I guess a third alternative is to post here asking the Echo to remove some of the wind up merchants permanently, even tracking the multiple identity stirrers. The Echo Saints Forum is a home base, it's local and is ours where ever in the world we are. I for one want it to be supported properly by Southampton FC fans. COYR
