ONCE again the rumour season is upon us.
Hundreds of players you have probably never heard of will be supposedly on their way to St. Mary's, with countless more alleged to be on their way out.
To try and keep track, the Daily Echo is once again providing an at-a-glance guide to the latest rumours involving Saints.
They won't all come true and some will be pure fiction thanks to some bored fans in their bedrooms, yet many fans can't resist seeing the latest names Saints have been linked with.
Don't take the list as a comprehensive guide to moves that are definitely going to happen - they are just rumours.
However, some will undoubtedly come true.
• See the rumours from January.
During the January transfer window, many fans actually seemed to get upset about the list, so if you don't like it, please don't bother looking at it!
If you come across any rumours, please add them to the comments section below or email dan.kerins@dailyecho.co.uk, along with information about where you heard it.
If they don't look completely made up, we'll try and add them to the list below.

For all you very optomistic southampton fans out there, rob hulse will leave derby but for 4million minimum, and westham, Coventry and middlesbrough are lining up bids so god knows how your giong to get him for 1 million ! Chris commons is not for sale and nigel clough says he will only be sold for a stupendous amount of around 10 million so its not happening basically. jay mceverly and gary teale have been released and could go to southampton but plymouth are also interested as they had teale on loan earlier this season.

The only difference was that the lads who used to frequent it were all Saints through and through, no blue or fish fiddlers welcome

With no home games left one has to ask how are they going to pay the wages throughout the summer, the cup final money is to be held back to cover FA football related debts.
With the club now on the brink of extinction, no other team will bid for Pompey players until the last minute, waiting to see if they can pick them up for free.

We have no former staff due in court

Ans. I have never suggested it has infulence the price. But media gossip is widely used now as a tool to turn players heads and look for those transfers which might not of happen otherwise. Rumours can not be stopped but I only ask that you accept that media rumours can be used to manoeuvre a possible move, and just a bit of care is needed with such rumours and possibly suggest their worth / strenght / origin of the rumour. Some rumours are best left alone to die and forget.

As I said, most Saints fans are happy with this thread and like have somewhere that collates all the rumours involving the club in one place.
As far I can tell, the problem you have is with rumours about players leaving Saints (you haven't complained about the rumours of players joining Saints). They are just as relevant (if not more so), regardless of whether or not they are what we want to hear.
It is not for me to decide which rumours are "best left alone" so I will continue to post the ones from the most sources up on here for others to make their own minds up - that's the whole point of the article!

I am not sure what will be happening in the near future regarding transfers. Not sure how much is available, who has to make agreements, what agreements have to be made before a transfer can even move to agents. I am sure we will find out more Wednesday/Thursday.
We will lose alot of players soon & need quantity as well as quality, there may be lots to clarify before we find out who can green light any new contract.

Why leave a club to join one you will overtake in the next year.
Saints do not have a need to sell and if they did it would be more like 35 not 3.5

In relation to questions being asked about pom... and hmrc. 35 million os owed. Which means they have enough to stop pom... form coming out of admin as it is on its own over 22%. When Swindon were in this situation and offered 99% pay off it was refused. Hmrc want their 35 million and if not want to make an example of a football club.
a 6 million offer is not going to cut it
it is inlikely they will find a buyer until they come out of admin.

Although Trotman made a valuable contribution whilst he was on loan with Saints , we already have four central defenders on the books better than he. Unless Murty has decided to retire because of his injury, I think it would have been prudent to offer him a "pay for play" contract. Having no recognised right back on the books may mean Saints are held to ransom, when trying to sign one.

Stephen Dawson

Inigo Calderon
They are also looking at possible loan deals for Vokes and Surman from Wolves and Lucas Juktiewitz from Everton. All 3 our Southampton born and bred and Saints fans – and all have expressed a desire to play for the Saints.
Saints are also looking at Simeon Jackson and Adam Le Fondre as well as Craig Bryson for small fees.
They may also take a look at Racon, Bailey and Semedo now that Charlton will definately be in League 1 next season and are in financial difficulties.
They may also take another look at Neil Danns and Elliot Ward – both players they tried to sign back in January. Dann's cousin runs a pub in Soton apparently!
Nathan Tyson has also been suggested as possible target as he's apparently keen to move closer to his family in Reading.

Freddy Adu will join Southampton for £1M from Benfica. Subject to International Clearance and Medical.
Saints will also sign Chris Lines from Bristol Rovers for a fee of £500K. Bristol Rovers have got there replacement ready. Wayne Brown who signed from Fulham.
The Andrew Surman deal is on hold but is expected to be done next week.The fee is believed to be around £700K. The deal will be announced on July 1st on the Saints Website at 10am

The Saints manager is woefully short of cover in that area after releasing both Lloyd James and Simon Gillett recently.
Morgan Schneiderlin and Dean Hammond were regulars in central midfield for most of last season, but after that Pardew’s only experienced option is thirtysomething Paul Wotton.
Jason Puncheon has been used in a central midfield role by Pardew, but has shown he is far more effective and dangerous out wide.
Pardew is keen to sign a box to box midfielder who can ideally provide a goalscoring option as well.
He was linked during the January transfer window to two players who almost fit that template.
Saints were keen on signing Winchester-born Brian Stock from Doncaster Rovers, but were not keen on paying the price Rovers placed on his head.
There were also reports linking them with Bristol Rovers’ Chris Lines.
Lines, who signed a new contract last January, bagged 11 goals from central midfield last season.
Stock, on the other hand, failed to score in 2009/10, though he did score eight times the previous season.
Though Schneiderlin and Hammond were very much Pardew’s preferred central midfield options in 2009/10, neither was a consistent scorer.
Scheiderlin only netted once – his sole strike in over 80 league and cup appearances for Saints – while Hammond notched five goals in 40 League One starts.
Wotton, meanwhile, has never scored for Saints in 40 league and cup starts plus another 28 off the bench.
Hammond netted four of his seven league and cup goals for Saints in an 11-match run spanning late October through to early December.
Saints had been linked with Falkirk’s young midfielder Scott Arfield, but this week the player signed for their League One rivals Huddersfield.
The 21-year-old has not been a regular scorer in Scotland, though.
He scored just three times in 2009/10, and two of those were penalties.
Saints were also linked with former St Mary’s favourite Andrew Surman, who only made three Premiership appearances in his maiden season at Wolves.
Elsewhere, Pardew has gone on record as saying he would like to sign a striker as cover for Rickie Lambert.
The manager might need to make two strike signings if Saints cannot agree a new deal with the out of contract David Connolly.
A right-back is also a priority as Pardew does not have any senior player with experience in that position after releasing James,Wayne Thomas, Graeme Murty and Jon Otsemobor.

We had to wait a while for the season ticket news, then a bit longer for the new shirt (which i really love btw), and all this waiting around is quite excitting i think. NC is a quality chairman and i dont mind waiting if the signings he makes are well worth it.
I think we are going to have to bring in atleast 6 or 7 quality players if we are going to build a team to seriously push for the title.

Any clue where are the new players we need or are we going with what we've got?
I'd like to see the recruits starting with the rest if we are to win the league this year.. Is it all a little casual? To me (a mere overseas clueless useless radio fan) every day they are not there is nail in the coffin of the cause.
Can we have a pre-season Echo on-line Forum? lol but do it early in the morning or in the evening 2am NZ is hard winter yakka.

Does anyone else think it is a cluttered mess, with no forum and to many glitches in the player link.. repeated log-ins are a pain in butt and the content is disappointing. I have this constructive rant as someone who has worked in I.T. who uses the site everyday and the player regularly and would like to see a revamp with less glitz and more more sense..

I really don’t understand why people keep knocking this forum, I think it's great for the Saints foreign legion, as I get a true sense of what the Saints fan is thinking and I can the gauge their mood, which I can’t experience living in OZ. News coming to me from a Reliable Source is that Southampton are going to sign Brian Stock From Doncaster for £1, 150,000 in the next two weeks while Saints go on Tour to Switzerland.
Other news is that Michail Antonio could be on is way to Leeds United for a 6 Month Loan after Reading have decided to get rid of some Youngters on Loans.
Southampton could be looking to South Africa to try and find some Young Talent. Scouts we're sent at the start of the World Cup and a three names have been taken.
Cameroon Young Defender Nicolas N'Koulou (AC Monaco)
Chile Attacking Midfielder Alexis Sanchez (Udinese)
Ivory Coast Striker Seydou Doumbia (CSKA Moscow)
Alan Pardrew is going to think about them after the Switzerland Tour and the World Cup.-

Seems the increase in our season tickets are funding the lack of shirt sponsor and now a hugely expensive trip to one of the most expensive resorts in Europe....wake up we're league one....and have Staplewood, I also know a scouts group that have surplus tents and camping equipment to complete the experience.

With absolutely no "rumours" we get in one of the league one's best players.
Looking at our appointments so far & the job vacancies on the OS it seems as if we are REALLY serious about getting a full, wise & professional scouting team to scour any network for the best available. At youth level I feel that we are very serious about building up a full team that would rival the best. This is a superb manner in which to build.
If the club's aspirations come true then we can look forward to a loyal local team that can compete with the best.
There are lots of theories that suggest how to create a "talent hotbed" and we seem to be on course to do that.
We are Saints fans for life and I expect that if we do our development correctly we could conceivably compete with the top despite our lack of location (with respects to our population). NC has already hinted that with a larger ground outside Soton the catchment area would allow a Hampshire club to thrive beyond it's current means.
Maybe wishful thinking but I am a firm believer in growing talent, which it is possible given the correct environment, that with the correct guidance superstars are born. And they all play for Saints!
It has now, with NC’s guidance become difficult to follow any “rumours”, but with all the signings we have made so far, they have produced the goods.

Spiffy new pics are up for the first team regulars inc Connors, Jose, Radhi etc also Pullis Reeves Preen Gobern and the young guys.
However I noticed that "Photo Coming" is there for Morgan, Bart, Holmes, Mills and Preen and Dickson and Richardson have not been allocated numbers on the site and are not up yet despite having had their photo shoots already.
Just conjecture but could this mean further transfers on the cards? Has anyone seen or heard of any of the non photographed players at SMS or Stapleford?

My guess is that we weren't prepared to get into a bidding war but even more likely that Jackson himself decided on Norwich because of Championship football and a better chance of week in week out first team football there.

Moving on the the Team. trying to guess the match squad of 16 or 17 players is a joy now.. Getting Ants back for added pace would be smashing but as it stands I like the choices though doubt hangs around Tommy Forecast.. who will need to prove himself from scratch.

Yes, we have a top squad. Is your proposed new CB to be in front of Jaidi for selection.? If so, why should Seaborne or Martin stay if they only get a once in a blue moon chance.?
Management are on record as saying that as a club we intend to build our way up with young players. If we continually buy experience then young blood leaves for regular football elsewhere.
Oh, and in passing, we are only DEFINITELY going up when we have 80 points.

I am of the opinion that once a dressing-room lawyer always a dressing-room problem and that Managers are very wary of them. I thought Beattie was great for us before,particularly in harness with Pahars, but please not now.
A new Pahars would be perfect though.

Despite interest from Middlesbrough, Dawson would move to Saints as he sees their future as a very bright one thanks to the investment from billionaire owner Markus Liebherr. Alan Pardew has said he will match any bid put on the table.

He'll be asking well over 15k a week, i dont think NC would sign someone who's crocked and pay them that much! David Connolly is a better striker and i bet he's not on that much nor Lambo! There are a lot better strikers for us than James Beattie.

However.....he obviously has ambition and wants to play first team football......will AP offer that? We already have 4 centre backs and Tafa and Racine in the background.

i've just looked on the unreliable football rumours website and it says about saints looking at darius henderson (sheff u) permanent and nathan delfouneso (aston villa) loan. I think Henderson would be good backup for lambert and delfouneso has pace to burn and can finish. Thoughts?
Delfouneso looks too good to me to be allowed out on loan to anyone unless on very short periods (1 month). A very likely future England player in my opinion.

Never go back - things are never as good a second time around. I really don't think he would be hungry enough for success to add anything to the team. Twilight of his career and all that - but wasn't this one of the reasons we got relegated? Too many experienced players in the twilight of their career? Big names, big salaries, big egoes = relelgation!

it doesn't matter though.
I've had a feeling since mid last year that Adam would leave.. it's just a feeling that niggles, he's not quick enough on the wing and isn't a real striker.. The money would be 2m and that would almost certainly get in the player required to complete the squad..
This is no reflection or opinion re Adam I wish him well and another 20 at Saints..

brett pitman-5 year deal-for a fee of £1.2 million.
chris lines-4 year deal-for a fee of £700k.

I watched the extended highlights of Bournemouth several times.. looking at Punch in the right corner.. does anyone else see his one footedness screaming out for the left wing rather than the right? Watching him double back out of the corner and stab at it with his left foot seemed a waste. However.. what a talent!!! and what a season he is going to have... with Adam on the Right.

Nobody who is any good is going to come here as cover are they?
Knowing they won't ever be playing exept through injury.
We've got no reserve team in a league any longer, just a few sporadic fixtures which arent even listed on the web site!
Which means that we have to sign players to improve the first team and move the replaced player to squad status.
Still, perhaps, the team will respond and go through the entire season without injury or getting "tired" and needing to be rested.

It has been said on here many times that Puncheon needs to play on the left.
When the ball comes to him (and he manages to control it with his wrong foot) he always cuts inside and then shoots over the bar. Even when he gets the shot on target (rarely) it cuts out the forward line. What is the point of having he best three forwards in the third division,and never crossing the ball to them?
The same point obviously relates to Lallana on the left wing. It would take less than a second of logical thinking to simply swap Lallana and Puncheon over. It is all a bit difficult for Pardew though!

The standard of posts in the Echo threads has fallen so low that many of the regular sensible fans have chosen not to post.
I've always enjoyed the fact that The Echo allow all to post opinion even if it differs from Saints genuine Supporters.
So really it's up to the faithful fans to keep posting and either ignore the idiot boo brigade who have never supported anything in their lives or let them have a piece of your mind.
I guess a third alternative is to post here asking the Echo to remove some of the wind up merchants permanently, even tracking the multiple identity stirrers.
The Echo Saints Forum is a home base, it's local and is ours where ever in the world we are. I for one want it to be supported properly by Southampton FC fans. COYR

Got a text from a guy who works in the offices at Southampton earlier saying that Saints have agreed a fee with Rotheram for Adam le Fondre.
Apparently an offer was accepted by Wycombe for Matt Phillips but Blackpool looks like his likely destination.
Rumours of Darius Vassell is Bullsh!t, he is close to signing for an unnamed Championship club I have been told.
The only other news I have is that a bid of around £650,000 for Michael Antonio was rejected by Reading and Pardew doesn't want to up his offer on the player.
